The Hempstead Union Free School District is proud to recognize Autism Awareness Month this April with a focused, districtwide initiative designed to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of students with autism. Titled “We All Belong Here: Building Understanding, Inclusion, and Respect,” this effort provides meaningful opportunities for all school communities to engage in brief, impactful activities that foster empathy and respect for diverse learners.

Congratulations to these outstanding students, who came out on top in our district’s First in Math March Madness competition! Through focus, strategy, and strong problem‑solving skills, they tackled challenging math concepts and demonstrated perseverance all the way to victory.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
In the coming weeks, the district will administer the New York State Grades 3–8 assessments to all students. These annual English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics assessments are required under the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which mandates every student participate in the state assessment.
