| Function | How does it work? | Everything has a purpose, role, or way of behaving that can be explored and understood. |
| Causation | Why is it like this? | Things do not just happen—there are causes, relationships, and consequences behind events and actions. |
| Change | How is it changing? | Change is a universal and ongoing process of movement from one state to another. |
| Connection | How is it connected to other things? | We live in a world of interconnected systems where actions in one area affect others. |
| Perspective | What are the points of view? | Different perspectives lead to different interpretations and understandings, shaped by individual or group experiences. |
| Responsibility | What is our responsibility? | People make choices based on their understanding and can take action to make a positive difference. |
| Reflection | How do we know? | There are different ways of knowing, and reflecting helps us evaluate our thinking and the quality of our evidence. |
